Puerto Rico Moves To Legalize Marijuana For Medical Uses  The governor of Puerto Rico has signed an executive order to allow marijuana to be permitted for medical uses. Alejandro Garcia Padilla endorsed the move, which will come into immediate effect, following a lengthy public debate on the US territory. Governor Padilla mentioned that Puerto Rico’s health secretary will have three months to file a report about how the executive order will be implemented. California Expands Medical Marijuana Laws In New Move  A new interesting precedent has likely been set in a California court regarding medical marijuana. Many people who have taken concentrated cannabis in the form of “honey oil” and “dabs” (which often are concentrated versions of THC ) can no longer be jailed or fined, since they will now be classified as medical marijuana . The state appellate court ruled that “marijuana” and “concentrated cannabis” are not literally defined in the 1996 Compassionate Use Act, but that those definitions are implied throughout the law. This means that marijuana users should not be arrested for possession of these concentrated forms of cannabis. The case started with Sean Mulcrevy, a 22-year old who was holding a valid doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana when he was searched by a Cameron Park sheriff’s deputy for possession of marijuana. 3 Australian States Begin Testing Medical Marijuana Following Demand  Since 2014, there has been much pressure from activists in Australia to legalize cannabis, at least for medicinal use. Fortunately, all their hard work is beginning to bear fruit, with New South Wales introducing a trial last year in order to treat drug-resistant epilepsy , relieve chronic pain, and treat some of the many chemo-induced side effects suffered by thousands of cancer patients. 60,000 Marijuana Plants Quarantined For Possible Pesticide Contamination  Denver, Colorado city officials have banned more than 60,000 marijuana plants meant for sale due to possible unapproved pesticide contamination . Denver officials ordered one warehouse full of these plants (worth $60 million in product) to go under quarantine due to the suspected use of pesticides that could harm consumers were the plants to be inhaled. Especially considering the fact that many Colorado residents purchase marijuana for medicinal purposes , the use of pesticides for growing the plants is highly frowned upon. (N.Morgan) The drug war has a trail of victims behind it, but the most painful of these victims are the children who could benefit so much from medical cannabis. They are the ones who suffer the most from the taboos and BS spread by the drug war and anti-drug campaigns. People need to recognize that Marijuana has so many medicinal benefits, without the toxic side effects. This medicine can mean the difference from being bed ridden to actually living a full, active life. it is time for big changes and time for us to realize that marijuana is not only a useful and necessary drug, but life saving, in many cases. The young man we are discussing today is Austin and his life has been anything but full and active. Most of his days are spent trying to survive, rather than living.
