Mayor Says Screw FEMA, Refuses To Declare Emergency (Video)

(N.Morgan) Mayor Heartwell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, in his wisdom, chose to hold off on declaring his state was in emergency to keep FEMA out of his state, while the state was being flooded by the heavy rains.

An FOIA request by a local paper revealed much of his hesitation was due to the fact that he didn't want to get FEMA, or the federal government, involved in what he felt was a local issue, to be handled locally. The Resident (aka Lori Harfenist) discusses.

Now this is what more mayors and governors need to do. Michigan realized they could get by without the interference of the federal government. FEMA is nothing ore than the govt. eyes, prying and taking control of any area they are sent to.
